Texas Hold'em Poker Hand Rankings

The various versions of poker have different "hand rankings." In Texas Hold'em Poker, the traditional 'high' ranking is used - this is the most widely-used hand ranking in both online and live poker games. The hands below are listed from weakest to strongest.

High Card

When a set is not made, the highest card's value is taken as your 'high card'.

Pair

Having two matching cards of the same value.

Two Pair

Having two sets of pairs, with the highest non-paired card being the kicker.

Three of a Kind

Having three matching cards of the same value.

Straight

A set of five cards that are sequential in nature but of different suits.

Flush

A set of five cards belonging to the same suit.

Full House

A three of a kind set, coupled with a pair.

Quads

Having four cards of the same value.

Straight Flush

Any straight (except when Royal Flush - see below) that has all five cards belonging to the same suit.

Royal Flush

A 10-A straight with all the cards belonging to the same suit. The best hand in Texas Hold'em Poker.
